Childhood
The ring and the promise
As children Yuuta and Rika Orimoto promise to marry when they grow up, and Rika gives him a ring. That ring is this page's watermark — very large, very thin, and touching nothing on the page.
Childhood — the accident
Rika dies but does not leave
Rika dies in an accident. After her death she becomes bound to Yuuta and turns into a special grade cursed spirit. For years Yuuta is recorded as a danger to everyone near him: whoever comes close is hurt.
Age 16
The execution order and Gojou
The jujutsu world issues a secret execution order for Yuuta. Satoru Gojou steps in, stops it, and enrols him at Tokyo Jujutsu High. His classmates become Maki Zen'in, Toge Inumaki and Panda.

Getou and the price of the vow
Suguru Getou attacks the school and Yuuta stands against him. To release the whole of Rika, Yuuta makes a binding vow. Getou dies at the end of the encounter; the hand that kills him is Gojou's.
Age 16–17
The seal, and then the order
After Gojou is sealed, the higher-ups give Yuuta an order: the execution of Yuuji Itadori. Yuuta was once the one an execution order was written for; now he is the one carrying it.
