Equipment
Nothing Levi uses is his own: the gear is the same for everyone, the blades come from the same forge, the target is the same spot. The difference is what gets done with the same tool.

Anchor, wire, gas. All three run out.
Two anchors fire from the boxes at the waist, pressurised gas winds the reels in, and the body hangs from the wire. Every soldier in the Survey Corps carries the same rig. What separates Levi is not the equipment but the spin around the wire that leaves more than one cut in a single pass — and never being wrong about when the gas will run out.

The nape
One metre long, ten centimetres wide. There is no other place.
A Titan restores everything you cut: arm, leg, face. The single exception is the strip at the nape — roughly one metre long and ten centimetres wide. Cut there and it dies; cut anywhere else and you have only spent time. The whole grammar of this page comes from that strip: one place, one cut, the rest is noise.

Ackerman blood
An unnamed power; Levi never explains it.
The Ackermans are a family the Titan power altered without turning into Titans. When the awakening comes, the accumulated combat knowledge of the line opens into the body — a mastery never learned, a reflex that arrives ready-made. Levi gives this nothing, not a name, not one explanation; the story explains it around him. The same blood runs in Mikasa, and in Kenny, who raised him.

A city with a stone ceiling
He was born in the underground city beneath the capital. When his mother died of illness, the man who found him was her older brother, Kenny: he taught the blade, the theft and the habit of owing nobody, then one day did not come back. The first thing Levi learned was not a technique but a measure — what can be carried.

A choice that did not look like one
The Survey Corps caught Levi while he was working underground with two friends, and Commander Erwin Smith showed him two doors: a cell or the Corps. On his first expedition the rain came down, the formation broke, and his two friends did not return. The side story that covers this period is titled 悔いなき選択 — a choice with no regrets; the title is not a boast but a method applied from that day on.

Four people in one afternoon
With four soldiers he had chosen himself he took responsibility for Eren. Among the giant trees they met the Female Titan; when Levi came back his squad was gone. What he told Eren before the mission was not a pep talk but an admission: he did not know which choice was the right one either.

One syringe, two dying men
Shiganshina was retaken, and the price was almost the entire corps. At the foot of the wall there was a single dose and two men dying: the commander who had made the secret of the basement his life's purpose, and the boy who wanted to see the sea. Levi chose the boy, let the commander go, and never reopened the question.

Working with the hand that is left
On the way back from the Marley raid a detonation wounded Levi badly: two fingers of the right hand, the sight of the right eye. What stayed on its feet was not a rank but a promise given — and in the end the promise was kept. The measure from the top of this page closes here: there is less room in the hands each time, and the number of things to carry never drops.
